8 Days / 7 Nights Madidi National Park Rafting the Tuichi river
Day 1: Transfer La Paz or Santa Cruz - Rurrenabaque, Amazon basin. Greeting at the Rurrenabaque airport and transfer to your hotel. Briefing about the schedule and Rurrenabaque. Dinner, and a free day in Rurrenabaque to rest and recuperate from the long flight overseas.
Day 2: Starting at 9:00am, we depart by 4 x 4 from San Buenaventura to the community of San José de Uchupiamonas. Overnight in the community.
Day 3: After breakfast, you will raft down the Tuichi River, observing the beautiful landscape and well-preserved rainforests of the Madidi National Park. Camp in a river beach.
Day 4: Early start listening in the distance to the roaring of red-howler monkeys. Travelling down river where you will arrive to a location where you start a rainforest walk where your guide will tell stories about the forest and the plants. Camp near the river and an after dinner night walk to find nocturnal fauna.
Day 5 and 6: On the road again, rafting the Tuichi river, passing some small rapids. Camping on a river beach. The fifth day you will arrive at the Tacuaral Lodge late in the afternoon.
Day 7: Morning visit to the Caquihuara cliffs to observe wild macaws and fauna in its natural habitat. This visit is combined with an interesting hike back to the boat to return for lunch to the lodge. Rest. Afternoon departure to Rurrenabaque by boat. Arrival around 5pm in Rurrenabaque.
Day 8: Breakfast at your hotel and flight back to La Paz or Santa Cruz, transfer to your hotel.
